SENIOR HURLING
Our senior hurlers got their county championship off to a strong start last weekend when they defeated Holycross-Ballycahill in Clonoulty. It was Clonoulty who got off to the better start opening up a 3 points to 1 lead, however Upperchurch responded well and a Jack Butler goal 10 minutes in saw them take the lead. Playing with the gusty breeze the lead was extended further with the scores shared well amongst a number of players. At half time we held a 12 point lead 1-16 to 0-7. A determined effort from Holycross saw them chip away and with 5 minutes of normal time left in the 2nd half the gap was down to just 5 points. However a goal from Luke Shanahan settled matters and Upperchurch Drombane eventually won by an 8 point margin 2-23 to 0-21. This sets things up nicely for the next group game against Mullinahone next Friday at 7pm in Boherlahan. Tickets for this will go on sale early next week at https://embed.futureticketing.ie/c/tipperary-gaa/ Currently we top the group on 2 points from Mullinahone & Toomevara on 1 point each after their draw last weekend
