TOUR DE PARISH '21

Thanks to all who participated and helped to make last weekend's Tour De Parish such a big success. People from all over came together and cycled/walked or ran over the weekend to help us reach a cumulative total of 3,961km, well surpassing our target distance of 3,500km. There's lots of photos on our facebook page of people taking part, hopefully we haven't missed any that were sent in. We greatly appreciate all the generous donations, both via www.gofundme.com/tour-de-parish-21 and also at the field or in Ryan's shop or Drombane Creamery. There is still some money coming in but the current total is €16,945. There was a great atmosphere at the clubhouse all weekend where many people started or finished their routes. Some of the highlights include 5 people who ran the very challenging 42km black marathon course, one who cycled the 42km route 3 times and one who cycled all 7 routes back to back covering a distance of 114km and a number who walked the 42km route. But it was all the lower distances that really made a massive contribution towards the total. Thanks to all who volunteered behind the scenes in organising the event and keeping it running smoothly all weekend.

UNDER 21 FOOTBALL

Commiserations to our under 21 footballers who put up a strong effort last Sunday in the 2020 county final v Ballina but came up just short. it was a very evenly matched contest through out with nor more that 3 points between the sides at any stage until a Ballina goal 24 minutes into the 2nd half put them 5 points clear. Our lads showed great fight to bring it back to a single point however it was Ballina who got the spoils on the day 1-10 to 1-8. Well done lads on a fine effort over the past 18 months to reach this stage.

SENIOR HURLING

The senior hurlers backed up their first round league win over Drom & Inch with another impressive performance against Clonoulty Rossmore last Sunday in Clonoulty. The strong breeze & water breaks made it effectively a game of 4 quarters with Clonoulty getting out of the traps fastest only for our lads to finish the first half strongly and take a 9 point lead into the break. Clonoulty responded strongly through and had it down to a single point at the 2nd water break after which our lads regained their composure and were pulled off a 3 point victory (2-19 to 1-19). This leaves us currently top of the 4 teams groups with 4 points, Clonoulty & Kiladangan have 2 points while Drom are still to get off the mark. Our final group game will be against Kiladangan on July 11th.

JUNIOR HURLING

Our junior hurlers look to make it 3 wins from 3 when they take on Moyne/Templetouhy this evening(Friday) at 8pm in the Mid league. Wins over Gortnahoe & Boherlahan leave us in a strong position on top of the table with 2 games remaining. If mobile coverage in Templetouhy permits we hope to stream the game live on our facebook page.

TIPPERARY UNDER 20 HURLING PANEL

Congratulations to Keith Ryan and Luke Shanahan who have been selected on the Tipperary under 20 hurling panel for 2021

UPPERCHURCH DROMBANE GAA GOLF CLASSIC 2021

Our annual golf classic this year will be held on July 16th & 17th at the new venue of Ballykisteen Golf Club. Team of four costs €200 which includes a meal afterwards and refreshments during the round. Some great prizes will be on offer.
